Potential Tariff Impact
Date: 4/03/2025
To Our Valued Customers,
We are already starting to hear from suppliers such as Icom, Motorola, and Kenwood, regarding the impact of the tariffs.
On April 3rd, the U.S. administration announced new tariffs on nearly all products imported into the United States.
Tariff Price Impact:
- Products from Japan will be subject to a 24% tariff. All Icom and Kenwood radios are manufactured in Japan, with some components sourced from China.
- Motorola radios are manufactured in Malaysia which will face a 24% tariff.
- Products and components from China will face a total tariff of 54% (additional 34% on top of the existing 20%).
As of this morning, our suppliers have informed us these tariffs will result in significant price increases. At this time, the full details of how these tariffs will be applied, and when we will receive price increases from suppliers, remain uncertain. However, any products arriving in the U.S. after April 5th may be subject to these tariffs, affecting pricing.
Since we at Quality Two-Way Radios have always maintained low prices and a small profit margin, we have no room to absorb large price increases. Once we receive price increases from our suppliers, we will immediately need to pass the increase on in our pricing. Without this we cannot stay in business. However, we will make every attempt to remain price competitive.
Impact on Price Quotes
- Since price increases in this environment will be volatile, we will not be able to guarantee prices.
- However, we will only raise prices in response to an increase from our supplier.
- If you would like to know if pricing has changed on a particular item or quote, please call us at 855-289-2929, or log into your account and check pricing.
We understand the impact this will have on your business. We will continue to provide updates as more details become available from our suppliers.
